About me
Welcome. My name is Victoria, and I am an Integrative Counsellor and EMDR Therapist, working with Adults and Young People.
Based in central Canterbury, I specialise in Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, PTSD, and Family / Relationship issues.
It isn't easy to find the right person to work with - it's a daunting process I know, but if you are currently feeling overwhelmed, if you are having issues in your relationships or perhaps just wondering how on earth it got to this, then I may be able to help. Counselling offers a safe place to explore your personal thoughts and feelings in a confidential and supportive environment. We all respond well when given the time to stop, be listened to, and be heard.
I enjoy working with both male and female clients and am experienced in working with Neurodiversity and those individuals diagnosed with Personality and Mood disorders.
So let's look at this together;
With over a decade of professional experience, I now run a small private practice in East Kent in addition to working within the NHS and the charity sector. As an integrative therapist, I draw from a number of approaches including Humanistic, Solution Focused, Trauma focused, Mindfulness and more. This enables me to tailor my approach to you as an individual so we can work together and help you move forward with your life.
I am also a trained EMDR Therapist.
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
EMDR Therapy is a structured psychotherapy which concentrates on helping individuals recover from past distressing experiences, memories and the problems they have caused like depression or anxiety, upsetting images, thoughts or flashbacks.
EMDR is not simply a therapeutic technique; EMDR is an evidence-based integrative psychotherapy, recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO), and by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for its affective use in the treatment of symptoms of mental health disorders and in particular PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
There is no issue too big or too small.

Therapy Dog:
The use of therapy dogs, or as is more formally known, animal assisted interventions, are becoming a popular and well regarded method of therapy.
The benefits of this controlled interaction are vast; the therapy dog is non-judgemental, accepting, and can be a soothing therapeutic presence, helping the reduction of stress and anxiety, alleviating loneliness and isolation, and can also help you to re-establish your own sense of trust.
Occasionally, and only on agreement, we may have the option to invite Douglas into session. If this is of interest to you, or if you would simply like more information about Douglas, please just ask.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
