About me

Hi! I’m Cam, a queer, trans, neurodivergent therapist. I hope to offer a space where you will be seen, heard and - most importantly - welcomed for exactly who you are.

My approach to therapy is person-centred, which means that I respect the wisdom you hold as the expert in your own life. During our sessions I trust that you will find your way to the things that are most important, at the pace that is right for you. I will stay alongside you through whatever you want to explore `and will meet you as a human, not as a blank canvas. Taking a non-medical, non-pathologising approach to therapy is an important part of my work: I want to understand your unique experience of the world and will only ever use diagnostic labels if they are words or concepts that you want to bring into our work together.

I acknowledge the interplay of social, cultural and political factors that impact each person’s experience of the world and believe that doing so can be an important part of therapy work. As such, I am here to work with all parts of your experience and will not expect you to educate me about your background or culture - although you will always be welcome to share anything that you want to.

I would like to extend a particular welcome to LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients who may find comfort in working with a therapist who shares these identities, while also honouring the differences between our experiences. I am also kink-positive and affirming of relationship diversity, including polyamory and non-monogamy.

Plural clients, or plural systems, are very welcome here. You may or may not have a diagnosis of DID or OSDD and we can approach those terms in any way that feels right to you. I can work exclusively with one person or with as many members of the group as would like to come to therapy - we can work together to find out what would work best for you all. I do not promote or push for integration, or otherwise assume that there is any one 'right' way to exist; I am here to meet you and get to know you exactly as you are.

I offer sessions on a weekly or fortnightly basis. I am also open to meeting on an ad-hoc basis, depending on circumstances and availability. If you think we might be a good fit or would like to learn more about my work, please do get in touch. I offer a free 30 minute video chat for us to meet each other and discuss how we could potentially work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my therapy training at the University of Leeds and am qualified to Postgraduate Diploma level. I am currently working towards an MA in Psychotherapy & Counselling, also at Leeds.

I currently offer therapy through my private practice and also within a charity setting, where I work with survivors of abuse. I also have 18 months experience providing counselling within an NHS primary care setting, where I worked with clients bringing a wide range of topics.

I am a member of Therapists Against Conversion Therapy & Transphobia (TACTT) and the Person Centred Association.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
