About me

I am a Children and Young People’s Counsellor, working with clients aged 5–25 years. I am passionate about supporting the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people, helping them to feel heard, understood and accepted for who they truly are.

As an integrative therapist, I recognise that every individual is unique and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. I draw on a range of therapeutic methods, combining talking therapy with creative approaches such as play, art, music and movement. This allows me to tailor our sessions to each person’s individual needs, age, interests and way of expressing themselves.

I understand that talking about thoughts and feelings can sometimes feel difficult, particularly for children and young people who may not yet have the words or understanding to explain what they are experiencing. Creative approaches can offer alternative ways to explore emotions, make sense of experiences and communicate what might otherwise be hard to express, for adults as well as children.

My aim is to provide a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where children and young people can feel safe to be themselves, explore their feelings at their own pace and know that they will be met with compassion and understanding.

I believe every child and young person deserves the opportunity to feel valued, develop a greater understanding of themselves and access support that reflects who they are as an individual. I feel privileged to offer a space where they can express themselves freely, build confidence and work towards positive emotional wellbeing.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Level 6 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling with Children and Young People. I also hold a BA (Hons) in Creative Expressive Therapies, a University Advanced Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Skills and in Family Systemic Practice.

I have over 15 years of working in pastoral education with a specific interest in mental health and safeguarding. Alongside my work at Creative Hearts, I work as a School Counsellor at a SEND school specialising in working with clients with ADHD, Autism and SEN needs and those who have experienced trauma. I have practiced as a Counsellor in a Primary School and in a grief charity.

I undertake regular CPD and am a registered member of the BACP.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
