About me

I help Black and global majority young people and families move from constant anxiety and overwhelm to feeling calmer, more confident.

I’m Victoria Aregbesola (MSc, MBACP), a Black integrative psychotherapist specialising in anxiety, trauma and identity with young people and adults aged 13–30, and their families.

You might be here because things feel “too much” right now: panic or anxiety that won’t switch off, school or uni pressure, family tension at home, or big questions about who you are; including the impact of identity, racism and systemic barriers.
My clients often tell me they are "perfectionist', “thriving/ high functioning on the outside but struggling inside”, and want a therapist who really gets their world, culture and context.

What therapy with me is like:
In our sessions you can expect:

  • Noticeable change within the first 4–5 sessions, not endless talking with no direction.
  • Concrete tools for anxiety, emotion regulation and coping you can actually use in daily life,
  • Space for race, identity and culture to be named and explored,
  • A warm, straightforward style, I am outcomes-focused but never pushy, whilst allowing you to steer the conversation and what has brought you to counselling

Themes that have come up in counselling:

  • Anxiety and anxiety disorders
  • Trauma and traumatic stress
  • Identity questions and racial trauma
  • Depression and low mood
  • Family conflict and relationship issues
  • School, college and university stress
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • Emotion regulation and coping difficulties

How I work
I’m an integrative therapist, drawing on CBT, psychodynamic and person-centred approaches so we can shape therapy around you rather than fit you into one model.
Across my 12 years’ experience with children, young people and families and within those year 6 in therapy, I’ve specialised in working with young people in foster care and care systems, and with Black young people and adults facing systemic barriers.
My practice is culturally competent, practically focused and outcomes-driven.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
