About me
Hello, I’m Vanessa. I’m a neuro-spicy creative and oh-so-familiar with the pressure to do too much for everyone else, while worrying that my own needs might be “too much”. I know how hard it can be to mask, support loved ones in crisis, navigate abuse, or feel that you always have to be “on”.
I also know the relief of putting some of that burden down.
I offer a warm, curious, collaborative space where you can bring what is troubling you, at your own pace. You do not need the right words, a clear reason for counselling, or a plan for what needs to change. We can begin with what feels most present for you.
My approach is humanistic and based on Transactional Analysis (TA). I work with people-pleasing, burnout, over-responsibility, anxiety, difficult boundaries, and recurring relationship patterns. I also welcome enquiries from people who have experienced complex trauma, including those diagnosed with CPTSD or wondering whether it may help explain their experience.
Together, we can explore how the messages, roles, and patterns you have learned show up in your relationships, work, and inner voice now. This is not about finding something wrong with you. It is about understanding what has helped you cope, what may no longer fit, and where there might be more room for choice.
I will not tell you who you should be. I will listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and work with you to identify what matters to you. My style is compassionate, non-judgmental, and gently challenging when helpful.
I offer individual online counselling to adults across the UK, with a free, no-obligation introductory call so we can consider whether working together feels right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
I completed a Level 5 Foundation Degree in Humanistic Counselling based on Transactional Analysis at Peter Symonds College, passing with distinction. My training is humanistic, with TA as its main theoretical model.
I am continuing my training towards becoming a Certified Transactional Analyst.
I have experience working with adults in private practice and charitable settings, including providing counselling for residents and service users through a charity. My particular interests include people-pleasing, over-functioning, anxiety, burnout, relationship patterns, and the experiences of neurodivergent adults.
I work within the BACP Ethical Framework, receive regular clinical supervision, and hold professional indemnity insurance.
Ongoing learning is important to me. Alongside my continuing training, I engage with CPD, books, articles, and podcasts to develop my thinking and practice.
I welcome neurodivergent adults, including people who are autistic, have ADHD, or are exploring their neurodivergence. My role is to offer counselling around your experiences and concerns, rather than diagnostic assessment.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I welcome enquiries from adults adjusting to a diagnosis of a serious illness or genetic condition. I offer space to explore the emotional impact of diagnosis, uncertainty, grief, identity, relationships, and the changes this may bring.
I bring personal understanding of this area and am developing my professional knowledge and experience.
I do not interpret genetic test results or provide advice about inheritance, genetic risk, or medical treatment. My counselling does not replace medical care, specialist genetic counselling, or palliative support.

I offer early-morning and evening appointments. I aim to respond to enquiries within two working days.
For online sessions, you will need a reliable internet connection and a private space where you are unlikely to be overheard or interrupted. If you have accessibility needs or concerns about online working, please contact me so we can discuss what may help.
I do not provide a crisis or emergency service. If you need urgent help, please contact your GP or local urgent mental health service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E.
