About me

We can dance to the beat of our own drum.

At certain times in our lives there may be a need for emotional support so finding the right counsellor is the first step in helping to explore the issues and concerns that can create an inner turmoil that can weigh a person down. The counselling relationship is built on trust, compassion and understanding – with the needs of the client always at first hand.

I work collaboratively with you, to help identify and acknowledge how your past can affect your present ‘self’ and your current relationships. Wherever path you are journeying, counselling can give you the opportunity to challenge the difficulties and life issues and unhelpful patterns of behaviour, that can hinder our growth. Counselling enables you to understand and creates a self awareness of new perspectives and different choices that can lead you to a healthier emotional well-being.  My role is to offer you a supportive, safe and confidential environment to explore what is important to you and to bring about realistic, manageable and lasting changes that are in your best interest.

I am a registered Integrative Counsellor with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Accredited) offering short and long-term therapy using my skills, knowledge and tools of thought from different therapeutic orientations. My work covers a wide range of concerns and issues such as communication and relationship breakdowns; families issues; life events; anxiety and stress; trauma, loss and bereavement, children and young people.

Alongside my private practice, I have worked as a Cruse Volunteer, a Young person’s counsellor and providing pre/post bereavement counselling in a hospice.  I have supported people with life limiting health conditions as well as their carers and families. I have experience in health and social care in a hospital environment.

I have worked for the IAPT service (Talking Therapies NHS) bringing a wealth of diversity to my practice.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
