About me

Sometimes you come to a point in life where something needs to change and you need help with that shift. Maybe you have unresolved issues from the past; possibly you are having difficulty dealing with more recent events. Perhaps overwhelming or buried feelings are getting in the way of you living your life as you would like. It could be that you have noticed unhelpful patterns or thoughts. Alternatively, you may feel just stuck or have a sense that on the surface life appears fine but something is missing. Together we will create a space that is confidential, allowing you to bring whatever needs bringing.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced counsellor, a qualified supervisor and I am also a counselling tutor. I have worked for a domestic abuse organisation and also for Anxiety UK.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

If you have lived with the pressure to ‘just get on with it’ or ‘man up’ you may notice this has been unhelpful and now feel ready to explore and understand your feelings and actions. Sometimes it is difficult to express ourselves in words and this is where creative methods can be helpful - but no artistic talent is required!

I know that for some people, reaching out is incredibly hard and so I invite you to an initial free 20min call - here you can ask questions and see if you feel I am someone you can talk to. There is no pressure as it is important that we both feel we are a good fit.
