About me

Hi, my name is Tracy and I am an accredited counsellor with the BACP.  My mission as a therapist is to work with you to find answers to problems with a view that improves your wellbeing.

My own experience of depression and anxiety has given me a personal understanding of how debilitating life challenges can be. I believe that it is imperative to help you understand where your problems started, and what is maintaining them so collaboratively we can find a solution moving forward.

As an experienced counsellor I have worked with adults and young people alike which helped me gain varied knowledge. This includes helping my clients to work through issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship breakdowns and low self-esteem.  There is no one size fits all with counselling.

Further, this is why I support and practise the integrative model of counselling. It works so well because it focuses on three elements of therapy; Firstly, Psychodynamic which explores a person’s relationships with significant others in their past. Secondly, Humanistic which focuses on what relationship one has with themselves. Finally, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (C.B.T.) which looks at how a person’s negative thinking patterns and behaviour continue to cause them concerns and problems in living.

How to get started

For those who have never experienced counselling before, I am a friendly, open-minded and approachable person. I understand that speaking to a counsellor about private matters is daunting. I offer a 30 minute pre-counselling telephone session which is free of charge. From this session you can then decide if you think we can work together, so why not give it a go.

I can offer fluid one off, weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions. The duration of individual counselling sessions is 50 minutes. For your own peace of mind, I am a fully insured, registered practitioner and listed on the BACP website.

I look forward to working with you on your journey to recovery. Please contact me to arrange an initial session.

Experience:

Children’s Centre Counsellor

My role was to provide clinical counselling to parents and carers of children under five years who are experiencing relationship difficulties and under stress with various issues. These include: Anxiety, Carer burnout, Depression Pre-natal and Post- natal depression. I also had the experience of liaising with Outreach workers, Midwives, Health visitors and relevant professionals involved in client support.

Women’s Aid

My role was to provide hostel based clinical counselling and psychotherapy for women who had suffered domestic violence.  Their experiences led to them suffering emotional trauma and low self-esteem. My work with clients centred on providing an empathetic space for clients to talk freely and openly about their problems.

Thurrock Mind

My role was to provide individual clinical counselling and psychotherapy therapy to adult clients with various mental health problems. I was responsible for maintaining confidential files, and to liaise with the practise management regarding referrals to external agencies. Furthermore,  I worked alongside colleagues who offer group work and alternative therapeutic projects within the organisation.

You and Me Counselling

My role as a counsellor centred on providing weekly therapy for children with various issues such as stress anxiety and leading to behavioural problems. My duties included counselling children in primary and secondary schools within day time hours using age appropriate therapy skills and techniques. This enabled the children to return to their classrooms with renewed confidence and coping strategies.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
