About me

During the Covid-19 pandemic, everyone is struggling with the isolation, uncertainty and life threatening situation that our front line workers are facing everyday. If you are feeling low, anxious or struggling with thoughts, feelings or domestic abuse please contact me for a free telephone assessment for counselling. I am still offering weekly 50 minute counselling sessions either by telephone or Zoom etc, but I am offering discount on my hourly rate for front line workers and anyone who has lost their job or been furloughed during this unprecedented time. Please don't struggle alone call me today and please stay safe!

About Me

Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile.  My name is Tracey Davidson I am a DipHE qualified and experienced Humanistic Gestalt Counsellor. I have worked within the NHS in various GP Surgeries around the Southampton area and in private practice for many years.  I started training to become a Counsellor after receiving counselling myself a long time ago.  I found being able to talk about my thoughts and feelings to someone who listened objectively very helpful, allowing me to come to terms with what had happened in my life.  I would like to offer you the same opportunity to have the space and time to explore whatever is troubling you.

Over the years I have had the honour to work with many different people with vastly varying issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, bereavement, self esteem/self worth, post-natal depression, addiction, trauma, relationships, sexuality, abuse and rape and because these people have wanted help and engaged fully within our counselling sessions, I have seen them go on to live the lives they always wanted.

About Counselling

My aim is to work with you in a warm, safe, confidential and non-judgemental way to help clarify thoughts and feelings about any difficulties that you may be experiencing in your current life situation. We would work together to enable you to find a way forward which is right for you and to enhance your sense of well being. I use a combination of approaches including Humanistic, Person-centred, Existential, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help you start to manage your problems more effectively and feel better about your life.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work ethically within their ethical framework.

What I Offer

The initial Assessment is FREE and lasts 50 minutes, this allows me to understand what brings you to counselling and which issues you may want to work with and allows us to explore if we feel we can work together and if you feel safe and comfortable in my working environment.

I work both short and long term with clients, however, that would be decided by discussion and mutual agreement as to what your requirements and needs may be.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
