About Me
Hello, thank you for taking the time to read my profile. My name is Tracey Davidson I am a DipHE qualified and experienced Humanistic Gestalt Counsellor. I have worked within the NHS in various GP Surgeries around the Southampton area and in private practice for many years. I started training to become a Counsellor after receiving counselling myself a long time ago. I found being able to talk about my thoughts and feelings to someone who listened objectively very helpful, allowing me to come to terms with what had happened in my life. I would like to offer you the same opportunity to have the space and time to explore whatever is troubling you.
Over the years I have had the honour to work with many different people with vastly varying issues, including depression, anxiety, anger, bereavement, self esteem/self worth, post-natal depression, addiction, trauma, relationships, sexuality, abuse and rape and because these people have wanted help and engaged fully within our counselling sessions, I have seen them go on to live the lives they always wanted.
About Counselling
My aim is to work with you in a warm, safe, confidential and non-judgemental way to help clarify thoughts and feelings about any difficulties that you may be experiencing in your current life situation. We would work together to enable you to find a way forward which is right for you and to enhance your sense of well being. I use a combination of approaches including Humanistic, Person-centred, Existential, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help you start to manage your problems more effectively and feel better about your life.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work ethically within their ethical framework.
What I Offer
The initial Assessment is FREE and lasts up to 50 minutes, this allows me to understand what brings you to counselling and which issues you may want to work with and allows us to explore if we feel we can work together and if you feel safe and comfortable in my working environment.
I work both short and long term with clients, however, that would be decided by discussion and mutual agreement as to what your requirements and needs may be.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
