About me
Hi, I’m Toni.
I’m a trauma-informed counsellor with over 20 years’ experience supporting adults and young people through difficult life experiences. My background includes working in charities, the NHS, prisons, addiction services, education and community settings, including supporting people affected by domestic abuse.
You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem or difficulties in your relationships. Perhaps you feel stuck, or find yourself repeating the same patterns. Sometimes the ways we’ve learnt to cope have helped through difficult experiences, but over time those same patterns may no longer feel helpful. Together, we can gently explore what’s happening for you, understand what may be underneath certain feelings or behaviours and consider what you might want to change.
I have a particular interest in trauma, childhood trauma, addiction and domestic abuse. This includes supporting people who are experiencing or recovering from abuse, as well as those exploring how past experiences may still be affecting their lives today.
I offer confidential counselling face to face, online and by telephone, providing a welcoming space where you can talk openly, feel heard and explore what’s going on for you.
My approach is warm, supportive and shaped around you. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, and we’ll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. We can simply begin with what’s happening for you now.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Integrative Relational Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
My professional experience has brought me alongside people from all walks of life, often during difficult or complex times. This has given me a broad understanding of the different experiences, challenges and circumstances that people may bring to counselling.
As an Integrative Relational Counsellor, I draw on different ways of working depending on your individual needs. Our relationship is an important part of the work, and I aim to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to be yourself, talk openly and feel heard without judgement.
My work is trauma-informed and is also shaped by my own life experiences, which has given me an understanding of how difficult and overwhelming life can sometimes feel.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I believe counselling should be accessible and that financial barriers shouldn’t prevent someone from seeking support. I offer affordable and reduced-fee counselling options for people who may find the full cost of private therapy difficult.
I know it isn’t always easy to fit counselling around work, family and everyday life, so I try to offer different appointment options where I can.
I also offer a free 30-minute initial consultation. This gives us a chance to talk about what is going on for you, what you would like support with and whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you.
If cost is a concern, or you’re worried you can’t afford counselling, please still get in touch. We can talk about the affordable options I currently have available.

This is an opportunity for us to have an informal conversation about what brings you to counselling, what you may be struggling with and what you’re hoping to gain from it.
It’s also a chance for you to ask questions, get a feel for how I work and decide whether counselling with me feels right for you
If we decide to go ahead, we can discuss session options, availability, fees and the next steps.
Interested in group therapy?
We can also use the consultation to explore whether group therapy might be suitable for you, what you hope to gain and what to expect. Your first group session is FREE.
There is no obligation to continue following your consultation.
