About me

Hello my name is: Tim
My qualifications, experience and genuine passion for my work are your assurance of a confidential, professional and compassionate therapeutic experience.  I am a fully qualified BSc (Hons) Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy ( BACPhttp:// www.bacp.co.uk http://www.bacpregister.org.uk).

Skilled in the areas of:

(PTSD, Relational Trauma, Stress, Anxiety and Depression)

I am also a practicing qualified Rewind Trauma Therapist (RT), treating clients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, panic attacks and unexplained anxiety (www.bps.org.uk › Events). I have found the Rewind Technique to be a particularly powerful, non-intrusive, safe and highly effective psychological method for de-traumatizing people. This highly successful treatment/intervention is not a panacea to all Trauma victims, but numerous case studies have shown that the vast majority of sufferers experience a significant (over 70%) reduction in their symptoms.

My private practice is based in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, offering therapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups for the Isle of Wight and the South Coast. I provide a non-discriminatory counseling practice, which is caring, interactive, honest and supportive for both short-term Solution-focused, brief therapy (SFBT), and for long-term Psychotherapy for deeper emotional trauma and distress. Appointments can be made via email, text message or telephone. 07449 019440.

Talking Therapy

At times life can be confusing and painful. Has your life stopped making sense? Are you struggling to cope with the past, or are you feeling lost and heartbroken as a result of something that has happened recently? Are you experiencing some of the following:-

  • Are your thoughts and behaviors recurring and intrusive?
  • Are you are feeling stuck or confused in an area of your life or in your relationships?
  • Are you finding it difficult to share your problems with friends and family?
  • Are you feeling isolated and that no one understands how you feel?
  • Are you living with someone who is suffering from mental health issues and need help?
  • Are you’re close to losing hope-wondering if things will always be this way?
  • Are you looking for a safe, understanding and confidential space to share these issues?
  • If your answer is yes to these questions, then talking therapy can help:

Whatever your issues, there are ways to feel better about life. One of those ways is talking therapy. It can be a helpful, supportive and deeply healing way of re-balancing your life, and overcoming what you are currently faced with. Together, we can build the therapy that suits your present circumstances and emotional needs.

I use a Humanistic and Integrative framework of therapies which include, person-centered, existential, gestalt, solution-focused-brief therapy, psycho-dynamic unconscious processes, and the Rewind Trauma technique to help you start to manage your problems more effectively and feel better about your life.

I am available for short-term counseling and also longer-term Therapy. Ongoing sessions can be booked weekly, fortnightly, monthly or on flexible terms. In addition to this, I can be contracted to work intensively with individuals over a set period of time if requested.

Seeking help from a professional counselor, or psychotherapist can seem like a big step at first, however many people have found the experience of talking therapy very helpful with long-term positive effects. If you are not happy with living on the periphery of your own life and want to get a better sense of awareness as to what could be making you feel so overwhelmed, then take that next step by calling me to arrange our first meeting.

The process of counselling starts with an initial assessment, this allows me to understand what brings you to counselling and which issues you may want to work on first, it also allows us to explore if we feel we can work together and if you feel safe and comfortable to form a working relationship to tackle the healing journey ahead.

Session by session, you will learn more about who you are, why you think the way you do, what makes you happy or sad, you will learn how to enhance your relationships and how to feel empowered to make decisions you’re clear and content with. Perhaps you already know about counseling & psychotherapy and therefore are seeking a new therapist. Whatever your reason is for visiting this website I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you. You've already taken a huge step by deciding you want a different way of being and that something has to change.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
