About me

I offer psychoanalytic psychotherapy for people who want to understand themselves more deeply and make lasting changes, rather than seeking a quick fix to a particular problem. If you have had short-term therapies (e.g. CBT, DBT etc.), found relief from your symptoms but feel unsatisfied because you know the deeper underlying issues remain unaddressed, then I can be of help to you. The psychoanalytic work I do is careful, gradual and in-depth. It unfolds over time and takes place in person at my consulting room, providing a stable and confidential setting in which difficult thoughts and feelings can be explored. I have been working in this way for more than a decade in both NHS secondary care and private settings.

Psychoanalytic psychotherapy works because it recognises that much of our emotional life operates outside of our conscious awareness. Our difficulties can often be better understood by paying close attention to thoughts and feelings as they emerge in the sessions. The work focuses less on techniques or advice, and more on creating space to think and feel more authentically.

An initial consultation provides the opportunity for us to meet, think together about what brings you, and consider if having psychoanalytic work with me is the best way forward for you.

Availability

Currently, my only availability are for patients who can attend 3-5 sessions per week. Whilst intensive, the regularity allows our work to develop real depth and insight, giving full attention to deeper layers of the mind. For this reason, I do not currently offer once-a-week sessions.

BPC
British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC)

The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.

BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
