About me

I become a counsellor due to my desire to help people who are in difficulty and struggling with life.  I myself have suffered from trauma and I feel that I can use my experiences to help others with their problems.

I have recently started my own private practice where I can either do face to face, zoom or over the phone counselling. I work with a range of clients from adolescents to adults, covering any issues from anxiety, depression, bereavement or any other topics my clients wish to explore. I also work with young people and adults who have learning disabilities.

I offer a safe place, with a warm friendly environment at my home in Clawthorpe for my clients to explore all their feelings at their own pace. However, if they do not wish to travel I am very happy to do zoom or over the phone sessions.

In my spare time, I love to go running and work out at the gym. I also like reading and spending time with my friends and family. I have been lucky enough to have traveled extensively which has given me an insight into different cultures and different ways of living.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Person-Centred Counsellor and trained at the Unversity of Cumbria where I gained a Diploma of Higher Education in Person-Centred Counselling. I am registered with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I have been a volunteer counselling at North Lancashire Counselling Services for the past two years and previously volunteered for Mind in Kendal.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
