About us
A warm welcome to The Children’s Wellness Centre. We are an independent, award-winning paediatric therapy centre based in Tunbridge Wells, providing child and adolescent counselling, art psychotherapy and play-based therapy for children and young people aged 5–17 years.
We have two bright and welcoming therapy rooms, used exclusively for counselling and therapeutic work with children and teenagers. Each space has been thoughtfully designed and fully equipped with the needs of children and young people in mind.
Our dedicated children’s therapy room is designed for primary-aged children, while our separate adolescent therapy room provides an age-appropriate space for young people attending secondary school.
Both rooms are maintained to a high standard and include a carefully selected range of toys, games, creative resources and art materials, as well as a comfortable designated talking area.
Training, qualifications & experience
Our counsellors are all professionally qualified to work specifically with children and young people and have formal clinical training in child and adolescent mental health.
As a specialist paediatric therapy centre, we have a strict policy of only working with counsellors who hold specific qualifications and training in counselling children and young people, rather than practitioners whose training is solely focused on working with adults.
All of our counsellors are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its professional and ethical standards.
Member organisations *
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
