About me
I am a fully qualified UKCP Registered Psychotherapist and my practice covers Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Oxted. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation.
How I Work
I provide a confidential and safe space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings so we can understand your frame of reference and focus on what feels important to you. Being listened to by someone empathic and in a place free of judgement is a powerful way for you to make sense of what is going on for you. Together we can build on your inner resources and resilience helping you to experience a more fulfilling life.
My training is in Transactional Analysis, a theory of personality and communication, and I work integratively drawing on other models and theories in order to meet the individual needs of clients. My approach is 'relational' whereby our relationship is an integral part of the work we do together. It is through the here-and-now of our relationship that we can uncover historical patterns of thinking, feeling, behaving, creating awareness of how these patterns may impact you and the way you relate in the present. We will focus on your wants and needs and together we will explore what you hope to achieve in our time together and what it is you would like to change.
Sessions
The number of sessions will be based upon what you feel you need. I offer both Counselling and Psychotherapy. The difference being that Counselling tends to be short to medium term working in the here-and-now with less complex issues. Psychotherapy is medium to long-term and involves working in greater depth with more deep rooted issues and patterns of relating from the past and therefore more complex issues. Both Counselling and Psychotherapy are closely related and are both ‘Talking Therapies’ they both involve the therapist walking alongside the client as an empathic, non-judgemental listener, supporting and empowering the client in making decisions for themselves about their life.
I work on a short, medium or long-term basis with individuals and couples. I have extensive experience of working with Adults with a wide range of presenting issues.
Codes of Ethics
I am a Registered Clinical Member of UKCP, Registered Member of BACP, member of UKATA (UK Association for Transactional Analysis), EATA (European Association of Transactional Analysis) and the ITAA (International Transactional Analyst Association. I work in accordance with the Codes of Ethics and Professional Practice of these professional bodies. As a part of my continuing professional development I have regular supervision with other experienced professional UKCP psychotherapists and engage in regular training.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
UKATA (formally the Institute of Transactional Analysis) is the national UK Transactional Analysis organisation representing all fields of TA theory and practice. TA can be used as an effective tool in a wide range of contexts such as: personal development, management, coaching, counselling, psychotherapy, teaching, education, parenting and more.
