About me
Hello, I am Tara
I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor, with several years of experience. Originally from Zimbabwe, I believe in a natural holistic approach to mental wellbeing and healing.
Sometimes, we need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow.
I am specialised in Loss & Bereavement - having gained vast experience working in London for various mental health charities, including CRUSE Bereavement Care's Kensington & Chelsea branch.
I have a special interest in Pre and Post Natal Depression. Far too often, women (and men) suffer in silence, with feelings of guilt, isolation and emotional fatigue. The effects of PND can put a strain on bonding, relationships and cause unnecessary pain. Let me help you through it.
I am a great believer in the healing benefits of Nature and my 'Walk and Talk' Nature Therapy is very popular. Cornwall offers the perfect setting for this, with beautiful beaches, coastal walks and forests. Sessions are mainly based in the north coastal Newquay area - but walks in forests and other areas can be arranged on request.
I regularly volunteer for SHOUT, a National Crisis Text-Line supporting young people and adults, in crisis (Text 'Shout' to 85258, for free)
I offer face-to-face sessions in a tranquil therapeutic room at the Health and Wellbeing Innovation Centre in Treliske, Truro. I also offer online counselling, telephone counselling and 'Walk and Talk' Nature Therapy.
I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) I work to the BACP ethical framework, hold Insurance and have monthly Clinical Supervision.
I look forward to hearing from you - Please contact me with any questions you may have :)

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
