- Spirituality & meaning – Discovering what gives you purpose and peace.

MY APPROACH

Self-compassion is key to healing. I can help you to nurture this to find the peace of mind you deserve. You will be in a better place to heal when you can put your inner-critic to rest. We don't all have a spotless record of behaviour but acknowledging this with forgiveness towards ourselves will make the future brighter.

My humanistic approach respects your uniqueness and works with how you are affected by the world and other people in your life, rather than clinically assessing or labelling you.

My existential approach sees your relationships as the key to understanding any anxiety, uncertainty and choices.

WHAT WE WILL DO

We will talk, I will listen a lot,  I will ask questions that encourage self-exploration, we will understand how your past affects your present.

TRAUMA-INFORMED

Body-awareness, delivered gently and with compassion, is key to knowing our feelings even when we can't name them. I am gentle with this ; I am trauma-informed and work with PTSD. We can be hopeful together that feeling safe in the world is your body's natural state.

OTHER BENEFITS

Sometimes just feeling heard can give you space to understand yourself.  I honour the value in simply sharing your distress. I endeavour to give you space for this.

From there we can explore your patterns, your thinking ( and over-thinking ) or your way of being in the world.

Wherever you are on your journey, I’m here to offer a safe, accepting space to explore, heal, and grow.

BEFORE I BECAME A COUNSELLOR

I have been a musician all my life. If you like to sing, play or listen to music, we can work with the cathartic and healing potential in this area if it appeals to you.

I practice meditation daily and experience the many benefits of living mindfully. I would be happy to share this with you if it is something you are drawn towards.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I also offer Mindful Singing for Well-being. You do not need to be a singer, only to have an interest in connecting to your feelings with the healing power of your own voice. I facilitate chakra tones ( long notes to calm the chattering brain ), mindfulness and mantra to help with anxiety, depression and finding to inner peace.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
