About me

Hello and thanks for visiting my page.

Many of my clients talk about how counselling allows them to share something with someone who is not directly affected by their issue and who will offer a safe place in which to do it.

It can provide people the chance to really reflect on how they, themselves are feeling, away from the life and expectations that they experience with others around them.

Whatever your reason for reaching out, well done for making this step and I hope that I can be of help 🙂

As a counsellor, I will offer you a non-judgemental and empathic space for you to talk and explore your feelings. We will work together to understand what's going on for you, which should equip you for life going forwards.

Counselling can often involve talking about difficult or painful feelings, especially if you are experiencing depression or anxiety. This can sound scary! Be assured I am not going to take you to places that you do not want to go. I will, however, sometimes challenge you or question things you say, if I feel that it may benefit our work together.

Ultimately, counselling involves developing an authentic relationship with another human being, and that is how I will meet you. Together we will explore how it feels to be you and should make some realisations along the way.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as a Counsellor in 2013 and since then have worked in the NHS and private sectors, as well as in my private practise. Since 2024 I have worked as a Counsellor for the LGBTQ+ Project, Norfolk.

I have been a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) since 2012 and was accredited by them in 2019.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
