Training, qualifications & experience

My Approach

Have you ever found, no matter how hard you try, parts of your life remain quite perplexing and hard to come to terms with. Therapy can really help you get in touch with such elusive, often difficult aspects. Through the course of therapy, together we will discuss the patterns of the past and new ways of proceeding in the future.

We live in a very complex and at times lonely world, which has many pressures that can trigger varied psychological issues in us.

My therapeutic approaches are tailored to the individual. The therapy process could involve helping with current distress, despair and struggles and their impacts on daily life or simply getting to know yourself and/or your relationships better.

My Service

There are many different experiences and dilemmas that can lead people onto therapy and we will explore your issues in an understanding and professional way.

I am an Accredited CBT Therapist, a Registered Counsellor with many years experience working as a CBT Psychotherapist in the NHS. I also have further interests and experience in Compassion Focused Therapy and Mindfulness. I work with diagnosed mental health disorders, with feelings of anxiety, depression, with low self-esteem and with difficult relationships in all aspects of our lives. I offer short and long term therapy.

Locations

My private practice is in based in Nayland, Suffolk close to the Essex boarder. I also work remotely via Zoom.

Professional Membership

As an accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP) and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I am bound by their ethical framework for good practice in counselling and psychotherapy and I work to both their codes of ethics.

About Therapy

I work in a supportive and open way, making sure your voice is heard and respected. In time you should be able to recognise that you have the potential to understand yourself and your needs, conflicts, anxieties, defences and relationship patterns on a much deeper level, enabling you to explore alternative ways of being and relating, to ultimately bring you a greater personal satisfaction and stability in your life moving forward.

Contact me

Understandably, finding a CBT Therapist or Counsellor can sometimes be a daunting experience so please be assured of an understanding and compassionate response if you get in touch with me.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
