About me

I am a registered qualified therapeutic counsellor providing online counselling for a wide variety of difficulties. I have a huge amount of lived experience and understand how trauma and stress can affect our mental and physical well-being. Through bringing up my own 3 daughters I understand the pressures and strains put on young people and the impact of our lived experiences on self-esteem and mental health. Through my own loss I understand how grief and bereavement can leave us lost, lonely and hopeless. And through working too hard and pushing myself to the limit with my previous business I understand how stress can physically and mentally leave us broken.

My aim as a therapeutic counsellor is to provide a relaxed, calm and safe space where clients can start to focus on their own difficulties and feel the relief of sharing what they previously felt was their problem to face alone. I have had my own extensive counselling and understand how hard it is to take those first steps and to speak those first words. But I also understand that it is by talking with someone we implicitly trust about our fears, pain, traumas, etc that we start to find the path towards healing. Having counselling is not easy but if you are able to trust in yourself and the therapeutic process the outcomes can be transformative.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Level 4 therapeutic counsellor. My training and my practice is person centred which means what it says, the client is at the centre of the work we do together. As a person centred practitioner I believe the client knows themselves and their experiences best. I am not here to tell clients what to do but instead to encourage and guide them through a process which enables them to feel safe and able to explore areas of themselves which previously felt too difficult or painful. In working together we can bring about positive change in which the client is able to become the best version of themselves.

I have worked with a diverse range of clients with a wide variety of different issues from depression to low self esteem to bereavement, menopause, health issues, relationships etc.The constant feedback I have from my client work is how safe and relaxed clients feel with me and how easy I am to talk to. It is always a relief for my clients to finally share their pain and to really be listened to in a non-judgemental way.

I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and abide by their clear ethical guidelines. Confidentiality and client welbeing is at the forefront of all of my work

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
