About me
Life can be extremely challenging at times, and taking space to focus on yourself and what you are going through can be a vital and supportive step.
I am an integrative therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space for women seeking emotional support. Sessions can be online or in person in Brighton and Hove.
I specialise in abortion counselling and post-abortion therapy, supporting women who are struggling emotionally after an abortion. I also work with perimenopause and menopause, bereavement, and anxiety.
Abortion counselling / post-abortion support
For some women, an abortion can become a painful and confusing experience, even when it felt like the right decision at the time. Many women seek abortion counselling because they feel overwhelmed by unexpected emotions such as sadness, guilt, shame, anger, numbness, or grief.
Some women are surprised by how strongly these feelings surface after an abortion and may struggle with the idea that they are grieving despite having made a choice. I believe that an abortion can be experienced as a loss, and that it is possible to grieve while still feeling that the decision was right. These feelings can be complex and deeply personal; they deserve care and understanding.
Post-abortion distress can feel isolating, and for some women the experience may feel traumatic. Post-abortion counselling can provide a supportive space to gently explore what has happened, make sense of your emotions, and integrate the experience into your life with care and compassion.
My approach to abortion therapy is client-led, non-judgemental, and not influenced by political or religious views. You do not need to feel a particular way in order to seek support - all feelings are welcome.
Perimenopause and menopause counselling
I also support women through the emotional and psychological impact of perimenopause and menopause, which can be a significant and sometimes overwhelming phase of life.
Alongside physical symptoms such as hot flushes, joint pain, fatigue, and changes in libido, many women experience increased anxiety, low mood, irritability, or a sense of feeling lost or out of control. Identity can shift during this time - children becoming independent, caring for ageing parents, or questioning purpose and meaning in the next stage of life.
Counselling during perimenopause and menopause can offer space to reflect, understand these changes, and move forward with greater clarity, balance, and self-compassion.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have had a variety of work experience in the course of my career to date. I spent some time working in the Civil Service and then spent over 20 years working as a management consultant, including for one of the ‘Big 4’ for ten years. My initial degree was in Social and Political Science and I undertook an MBA whilst working. I hold a BACP accredited Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Coaching.
I spent three years volunteering for Choices Islington, a crisis pregnancy charity, where I focused on post-abortion counselling. I learnt a lot through this experience and came to see how important it was to have a service that specialised in this area, and I wanted to continue to provide this for a broader group of women.
I currently volunteer for Cruse Bereavement who support individuals wanting counselling following the death of a loved one.
I seek to work in a caring, non-judgemental and warm way and believe we can laugh as well as cry along the way. In psychotherapy speak, I work ‘integratively’, which to me means utilising different therapeutic approaches depending on the individual and their needs at any one time.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I comply with their Ethical Framework.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Working together typically means a weekly session of 50 minutes at an agreed time. We will discuss together, as we go, how our work is progressing, and we will work together towards an ending that feels right for you.
I specialise in the areas of post-abortion support and issues related to menopause, including those related to the life transition that happens around our 40’s/50’s.
I also have experience in anxiety and depression, as well as bereavement. I currently volunteer with Cruse Bereavement, where I see clients who have experienced a broad range of bereavement experiences.
