About me

I am a confidential, experienced and highly qualified psychotherapist/counsellor based in Woodbridge with over 18 years experience. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space in which to explore difficulties and stuck patterns enabling a new, healthier way of being to emerge. I have a particular interest in understanding and shifting stress, anxiety and depression. My counselling practise can be reached from Ipswich, Woodbridge and Aldeburgh. I currently see clients in person in Hollesley and via Zoom or telephone depending on each person's needs. I will have spaces for clients in Woodbridge again in September 2022.

My working background has been in the Health Service, voluntary sector and private practice. I established a therapy and counselling project working with families affected by addictions and am experienced in supervising other counsellors.

Psychotherapy or shorter term counselling is a place where you can find perspective and insight, a place where negative behaviour patterns can change. A psychotherapist provides a supportive setting in which to share feelings, thoughts and processes. Throughout our lives we will all experience periods of difficulty. This may be linked to an event such as the end of a relationship, trauma or a bereavement. Sometimes though there is just a general sense of unhappiness or lack of purpose in life. Psychotherapy can help you stay in the present moment and use our awareness of what arises as a gateway to understand difficulties from the past and hopes and fears about the future.

I see our work as a collaborative endeavour where client and therapist enter into a relationship. We make a commitment to work together and enable change. I am often very touched by what people are willing to share and appreciate that starting therapy is a big step to take.

I work with individuals and groups with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully. I am trained as a Core Process Psychotherapist and a Creative Arts Therapist (drama).

I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with stress, relationships, anxiety, bereavement and addiction.

I am aware that the decision to start counselling and choose a counsellor can be challenging. You are welcome to contact me with any queries. I am offer a free, no obligation 15 minute phone conversation.
My counselling/psychotherapy practice is in two locations within easy reach of Woodbridge, Aldeburgh, Ipswich and Felixstowe in Suffolk. I work from Hollesley and from the Natural Health Centre in Woodbridge.

I am registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) which regulates psychotherapists and counsellors. I am also a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) which regulates a range of healthcare professions including art, music and dramatherapists.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an MA (Cantab), and am trained as both an arts therapist and as a psychotherapist. I am currently registered with UKCP and the Health and Care Professions Council. My interest in psychotherapy began when I studied Freud and Jung as part of my degree at Cambridge University. I went on to train as an drama and movement therapist (Sesame Institute, Central School of Speech and Drama) and then to MA level in Core Process Psychotherapy with the Karuna Institute. I have been working as a therapist for 18 years.

I have worked in the Health Service, the voluntary sector, established a therapy project for families with drug and alcohol problems, worked with individuals with severe mental health problems, with young people with emotional and behavioural problems. I currently work with people who want indepth psychotherapy as well as people interested in short term counselling while they are going through a particular personal issue.
