About me

Hello, I'm Susan - I'm a BACP Accredited counsellor offering one to one, face to face and online counselling for people who are experiencing issues such as relationship difficulties; low self-esteem; anxiety; depression; abuse; life changes; loss and bereavement.

I provide a safe, supportive place for you to explore whatever is concerning you at this time.I offer short and long-term counselling with an initial assessment which enables me to plan the most appropriate therapeutic support for my clients

I am an integrative counsellor which means my client work is informed by different approaches: Transpersonal; Psychodynamic and Person-Centred which enables me to offer a flexible approach to working with clients in a way that is most appropriate to their individual needs. If you would like more information on these approaches I can provide this at our first meeting.

I am an Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of ethics.

I'm happy for you to contact me by telephone or email for an initial conversation about the issues you'd like to bring to counselling.

Through supervision and staff debriefing I have an insight and understanding of the challenges faced by those working in the caring professions.

I have experience of working short term with clients via an Employee Assistance Programme.

Experience as a well-being worker in a crisis centre for mental health.

Further information

About counselling.

Counselling can feel a bit like stepping into the unknown and you may be wondering what the "theory" means to you as the client. I strongly believe that an open, honest, supportive non-judgmental relationship between therapist and client is equally important. We may look at what happened "back there" in the past; at how things are "out there" in your world and "in here" the counselling relationship.

What happens in your first session?

I will take some background information from you and explore what you are hoping to achieve from therapy. Confidentiality will also be fully explained. Face-to-face sessions are 50 minutes. With online counselling the specific details of contact are agreed upon before we begin working together. I offer both short and long-term counselling and this will be discussed at our first meeting. Of course, this is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
