Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

About counselling.

Counselling can feel a bit like stepping into the unknown and you may be wondering what the "theory" means to you as the client. I strongly believe that an open, honest, supportive non-judgmental relationship between therapist and client is equally important. We may look at what happened "back there" in the past; at how things are "out there" in your world and "in here" the counselling relationship.

What happens in your first session.

I will take some some background information from you and explore what you are hoping to achieve from therapy. Confidentiality will also be fully explained.Face to face sessions are 50 minutes. With online counselling the specific details of contact are agreed before we begin working together.I offer both short and long-term counselling and this will be discussed at our first meeting. Of course this is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have.
