About me

I offer a friendly, non judgmental space and time to reflect, explore, discover and connect with the self - maybe you have never felt truly understood and supported in the past - many people haven't.

I practice Body/Mind therapy, and Person Centred Counselling, applying a body-centred awareness to personal process work. Psychology traditionally approaches problems through the mind. This is only half the story. Without the body and mind accessed together as a unit, we will not be able to deeply understand ourselves or heal our anxieties and traumas And can end up going round and round in circles repeating the 'story' In traditional talking therapies.

Enabling the body to go into a deeply relaxed state can help facilitate the release of somatic trauma which is held in the body from past life-events such as a difficult childhood or sexual, physical or emotional abuse. This results in parts of the body becoming 'frozen' in time and so not integrating with the rest of the body. Usually we are not aware of this until we are triggered by some event in the present. We can then become re-traumatised and confused and be unaware of why this is happening to us. Most of us have been traumatised in the past by procedures such as operations, dental work, car or other accidents, giving birth or going right back to our own birth.

Eventually this can lead to symptoms such as Anxiety, Depression, Panic Disorder and illnesses in the physical body - by working with the body's energy, this process can start to be reversed and so restructure the stuck or distorted energy and start the healing of the body back to its natural healthy state. I can help facilitate release of the somatic trauma or 'frozen' parts by using simple techniques which you can then use yourself to change this tendency.

This therapy is especially useful for treating anxiety and stress related problems as well as many others. Please contact me for more information.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
