About me
SERENITY Counselling & Psychotherapy

“We are human, not perfect “
Welcome to Serenity. Helping you to find your way back to yourself.
My belief is that counselling isn’t about “fixing “ yourself or becoming someone different. It is about understanding the experiences, relationships and challenges that have shaped you. Gently exploring what hurts, understanding your patterns with compassion rather than criticism, and rediscovering who you are beneath the hurt, the expectations, attachment and life transitions that have been a part of your history. You are unique and your story is yours. I am here to listen, not judge. Let your story unfold …
My passion is supporting Adults and Young People (13+) navigating change, expectations and pressures that can sometimes feel overwhelming and incredibly challenging.
My work with teenagers included working at Young Devon, supporting Young People with the complexities of adolescence. Looking at Anxiety, Low mood. Low self-esteem. Loss of friendship groups, School avoidance, Social Media pressure. Anger and overwhelm, bullying and self-harm. Together with life changes such as separation and divorce, challenging family dynamics and bereavement.
I have experience of working gently and sensitively with Neurodivergent clients and have had extra CPD training in this field supporting clients with Autism and ADHD together with much lived experience of this within my own family.
I also work with parents who are navigating the often complex and sometimes painful experience of supporting a struggling teenager .
ADULT counselling: My Adult counselling continues to help clients who may feel like they are holding everything together on the outside while feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck or lost on the inside. Maybe feeling disconnected, unsure of who you are or uncertain about what comes next. Painful life events, childhood experiences and challenges which continue to affect how you feel about yourself, your relationships and the world around you?
My work is Trauma Informed and I have a particular interest in Trauma and attachment.
My clients have described me as warm, approachable, intuitive, relational and human ... definitely not perfect!

Counselling doesn’t change the past, but it can gently change how we understand ourselves, how we relate to others and how we move forward. I work alongside you, respecting your history and what you bring. I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you, whilst sometimes gently challenging the thoughts, beliefs and patterns that no longer serve you.
“ When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change “ - Wayne Dyer.
Finding the right counsellor is an important decision. If my words and feelings have ignited something within you, it would be a privilege and an honour to walk alongside you on your journey back to you.
