Often people come to counselling with a unclear general feeling of confusion about the way their life is going but don’t always know what is causing this. Time with your counsellor is a way for you to work out what this confusion and lack of clarity actually means and for you to gain insight into your life and feel restored again.
I'm known to be an open, down-to-earth person who builds strong and supportive relationships with my clients. My approach is collaborative, working alongside each individual.
I tend to work medium term (so 16 - 20 sessions) or more if necessary. This is a non-binding arrangement allowing you the opportunity for us to create an ending when you become aware that you have reached this point.
I am a BACP and BUPA Accredited Counsellor/Therapist with many years experience of offering counselling and psychotherapy - I offer Integrative and Person Centred therapy to individuals and Solution Focused and Imago Relationship Therapy to couples.
I use the Person Centred and Relational Approach This means that rather than trying to direct you to change, I will instead listen to you carefully and create an accepting environment to enable you to explore the issues you bring to counselling. In this way solutions and change will begin to arise from your own wisdom in a gentle and natural way so that change can occur.
As a result of the process people who work with me report that they gain new and clearer perspectives on themselves and their life situation as their self-acceptance and valuing of themselves in relation to the world begins to emerge. Many of the people who attend my sessions have strong emotions and feel that they cannot cope with their lives. We will work together as collaboratively in a supportive environment to allow whatever solutions need to emerge to move forward in your life again with greater clarity and freedom.
Your concerns are as unique as you are and some of the areas people approach me for help with are:
• couples counselling with hetrosexual and same sex couples
• relating to others in close relationships and social situations
• breaking unwanted patterns of behaviour that are destructive or keep us stuck
• developing greater self-esteem and confidence in expressing ourselves
• working with feelings of loneliness and isolation
• working with the LGBT community

WALKING TALKING THERAPY
Movement propels people forward – literally and figuratively. Many of my clients prefer to take their sessions out of the office and into the outdoors. Somehow the simple act of walking while talking out life’s issues creates an environment of possibility and change – of forward movement. Through the rhythm of walking and talking there is a sync between myself and my clients. At a moderate pace, healing and breakthroughs occur!
Walk & Talk sessions are conducted exactly the same way with respect to processing challenges and concerns, discussing relationship worries, working through recovery, healing, and addressing goals – the only difference is our session is conducted outdoors while walking. I conduct my Walk & Talk Sessions from my Forest Gate office which is located on the edge of open parkland (Wanstead Flats).
