About me

About me and my therapy practice -

I am an Integrative therapist using Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I work long term and short term with clients and adapt to their current and presenting need.
My speciality of work is anxiety and panic attacks. I also have significant experience working with neurodivergent people, specifically ADHD. I have been diagnosed with ADHD myself as an adult and understand the challenges one might face and be facing. I also support people with who are experiencing low mood, depression, loss and bereavement, low self-esteem, stress and relationship break down.

I offer non-judgemental space and provide safe and confidential space for clients to explore their presenting issues.

Practice description - I offer short introduction call that would provide me with an insight of your current presenting need and also an opportunity for us both to decide if we are able to work together.
In the initial conversation I will be asking questions around current presentations, previous therapeutic interventions, previous support, social support network, social stressors, current risk and past risk, current medication - this is to determine what is happening for you at the moment and how to tailor the support.

My first session - During our first session I will explore what is happening at the moment in your life and will try and identify potential triggers. I also aim to build a trusting relationship so I can tailor the support. Sometimes it might feel like you have been asked too many questions and might feel overwhelming. Please if that is the case let me know. But, I can assure you it is with a purpose so I can understand better and provide the right support. I also tend to make recommendations of suitable literature that might enhance the journey.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Client testimonies:

"Stilyana makes me feel heard and understood. She is very professional, our meetings feel like a conversation rather than a stuffy clinical setting. I couldn’t have asked for a better therapist."

"I spent a long time thinking about starting therapy, feeling anxious about what it would be like and whether I would connect with my therapist. When I was matched with Stilyana, she exceeded all of my expectations. She is kind, well-spoken, and incredibly understanding. She truly listens and understands my feelings on a deep level. Her book recommendations have been spot on, perfectly tailored to my personal challenges. Stilyana is not only an amazing therapist but also a wonderful person. I would recommend her wholeheartedly to my closest friends."

"Stilyana Massey is absolutely amazing! After trying several therapists outside the platform, I felt an instant sense of trust with her. She truly listens and provides thoughtful advice that genuinely helps. I love her practical approach, like suggesting exercises and books, which makes self-improvement tangible. Her insightful questions have helped me uncover and reflect on automated behaviours. I can't recommend her enough!"
