About me

Feeling anxious or depressed? Are you dissatisfied with life? Do you want something to change but your not sure what?

At some point in your life if you have been holding pain (maybe for as long as you can remember) there comes a time when these issues need addressing. As a Psychodynamic Counsellor (see description below) I will work with you to understand how your old patterns of behaviour, thinking or feelings that have caused you upset or unhappiness continue to limit your experience of life. Once we can understand the unconscious reasons for your  behaviour, thoughts and feelings then we can begin to make the changes necessary in order for you to reach your potential and live the life you want for yourself.

Locations

I have two comfortable and secure practises in both Bedford and in Marston Moretaine, both locations are very near to the town centres that are easy accessible by rail and road. Both locations in Bedford and Marston Moretaine have access for wheelchairs. The practices also have hearing loop facilities.

Training, qualifications & experience

My own life experiences and personal journey has helped me to develop the insight and awareness which I believe are crucial in an effective counsellor.

My own personal journey has now enabled me to work with many people in many different settings.

Along with my counselling clients that I see in Bedford and Marston Moretaine, I have worked with people who have had addictions through misuse of alcohol and drug use.

I have also worked within groups in a therapeutic settling whereby unconscious dynamics come to the forefront in order for individuals to experience development and growth.

The following is studies undertaken by myself to give you the best in transference of knowledge that underpins the service I provide to you:

WPF Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling.
WPF Advanced Certificate in Counselling skills.
Level Two in Counselling Studies (CPCAB)
Level Two certificate in Psychodynamic counselling Skills. (CPCAB)
WPF Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling Skills.
OCR, RSA. Certificate in Counselling skills in the development of learning.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Feedback from clients:

"I don't recognise the person I was when I first came to see you."

"I now can live a full life where I can make my own decisions."

The relationship between the counsellor and client is one of deep trust and I provide a secure and safe environment to give you that opportunity. Each person is individual therefore each person I have worked with over the years has had their own unique experience of the counselling I provide. Some Clients come and see me for a few sessions and that may be all that is needed to understand ones self a little better. For others counselling often opens up areas that have needed addressing for many years and many of my clients come to see me over a good period of time. Open ended counselling can help where deep pain can be patiently explored in your own way.

What is Psychodynamic Counselling? Psychodynamic counselling is all about exploring unconscious very early experiences and how they relate to how we act now. This is an opportunity for you to break away from old patterns of behaviour as well as looking at the here and now in order to move positively forward with your life and enhance the relationships you have with others.
