About me

I believe that the relationship between the client and the therapist is crucial to the success of therapy.  I am a fully qualified, experienced and BACP registered therapist.  I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and confidential setting; a place where we can fully determine what is really going on beneath your defences; defences which may have protected you in the past, but may be impeding you today.

We need to become more familiar with what is going on inside us.  We must learn to recognize our feelings and motivations.  Although we are never free from some of the unhelpful influences of the past, we can work to minimize them in the present.  Fundamentally, we will be working together to help you to achieve control and inner peace in your life. I have a deep faith in a person’s inner resources.  Therapy is an excellent way to achieve emotional well-being, which is something that every individual has a right to.

I offer an initial FREE 30 minute Zoom or telephone consultation. I can give you an insight into how I work. You can then decide if you would like us to work together on your anxiety, sadness, low self -esteem, panic attacks, depression, or whatever else you need help with. We can do this together either at my practice in Oakwood, or via Zoom.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling (a BACP accredited qualification) from CPPD Counselling School.  I am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, and I practice in accordance with their ethical framework.  I am inspired by a variety of Psychodynamic and Humanistic approaches.  I offer both short and long term counselling.

Besides working in private practice, I currently teach trainee counselling students.  Additionally, I have worked in a variety of settings, including 3 years at a hospice, working with bereaved family members.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
