About me
Hello, my name is Stephanie, and I am a BACP registered counsellor. I work with both adults and young people, and I aim to offer you a safe space, free of judgement, where you can explore your difficult feelings and emotions, and get to the heart of what really matters to you.
Counselling offers a unique opportunity to reflect on your past, consider your present, and contemplate your future, with the support of an independent listening ear in a confidential, unconditionally caring, environment. Perhaps your feelings are overwhelming you at the moment, or you have a burden too heavy to bear alone; perhaps you are lost in the midst of sadness or anxiety and seeking a way through; I can work with you to understand your challenges, and navigate to the root of what is troubling you, in order to help you gain clarity and make positive changes.
Maybe you are here because you are watching a loved one struggling and unhappy, and you don't know how to help them? I aim to forge a connection and find a way for them to communicate openly; counselling can make a real difference.
I work with honesty and kindness, I am non-judgemental and down to earth, and I believe that, given the right support, you have the capacity to resolve difficulties, implement healthy coping strategies, and move forward with fulfilling relationships, with both yourself and others.
Working with Teenagers/Young Adults (14+)
Teen years can be a very difficult time - they are no longer young children who can be easily reassured, but also not an independent adult. They inhabit a complex world dominated by the pressures of the education system, social media, and difficulties with peers or changing family dynamics. They may be struggling to adjust to life at college or university, or not coping at school. There may be neurodivergence, or anxiety, anger or difficult behaviour that permeates through everything around them, meaning everyone in the family is struggling. Counselling provides the opportunity for them to understand their feelings with someone wholly different from a teacher or family member, where they can go at their own pace and communicate honestly.
What to expect
I work in both Broadstone and Winton, as well as online, and I offer a free 30 minute introductory session, where we would discuss how you presently are, and how counselling may work for you. You can ask me any questions you might have, and get a sense of the environment. If you decide you would like to work together, we will find a suitable time. I offer both short term (6-12 sessions) or open ended counselling. I am aware that young people may need appointments outside of school hours and will seek to accommodate this.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
