About me
I am a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist and an EMDR therapist. I offer CBT and EMDR sessions online via Teams, and in person at Swaffham Community Centre. I'm available Monday-Thursday.
If you're struggling with difficulties related to previous traumas or painful losses and memories from the past, then I can help you to make sense of these, understand why you're feeling so overwhelmed, and then process the painful memories and emotions in order to help you to feel calmer and more content. I also specialise in helping people with anxiety disorders (like OCD, social anxiety, and health anxiety). I will help you to understand what is keeping you trapped and to build the confidence and skills to challenge yourself and face the things that scare you.
CBT and EMDR have an excellent evidence base in helping people with trauma-related symptoms/PTSD/traumatic bereavement and grief, or where people need to process painful memories from the past. CBT is great for treating anxiety - it is daunting to leave your comfort zone, but the results of less fear/anxiety, and higher confidence in yourself are absolutely worth it!
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy in 2011 and hold a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction. I am accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists
I qualified in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy in 2017, and am a member of EMDR Association UK.
I have worked as a qualified psychotherapist for 13 years in NHS Talking Therapies services, and also in private practice.
I have undertaken clinical supervision training through my previous NHS work as a CBT clinical supervisor in an NHS Talking Therapies Service.
I take part in regular continuing professional development to maintain my memberships and accreditations, and to maintain and develop my therapy and supervision skills.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
