About me

My aim is to create a welcoming reliable space for you to examine things that you might not get many opportunities to talk about in depth which may be deeply affecting your life. Over time talking about these things can provide clarity, emotional release and long lasting insights. My approach integrates three different schools of thought about how best to help people, combining Person-Centred, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Psychodynamic. In addition I am also trained in EFT or 'Tapping' which works similar to acupuncture and helps release stored emotions from the body in a gentle way. This is very much your journey of self-discovery which I aim to help with by providing reflections and understanding.

Talking cures can be effective to treat depression, anxiety and stress-related symptoms such as burn-out, whether or not you are also taking medication. When words feel difficult, EFT or 'tapping' can be a really helpful way through, especially regarding phobias or irrational triggers. In addition to my integrated approach I am also interested in bibliotherapy, poetry therapy, neurodiversity and LGBTQ+ issues.

There is no pressure to book in a session if you aren't sure but if you would like to have a 15 minute chat I would love to hear from you to see if we are a good fit. Many people feel that their issues don't warrant therapy but the truth in my opinion is that almost anyone can benefit from the insights and increased sense of calm that therapy can offer.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
