About me

Reaching out to a counsellor for the first time can be daunting, but your bravery will be rewarded with a non-judgemental and empathetic ear.  If you feel that you would benefit from talking through a current struggle then reach out and book a FREE introductory call with me.

"A year from now you may have wished you had started today." (Karen Lamb - Author)

My name is Sophie Halford and I am an NCPS registered psychotherapist who works with adults offering Pluralistic counselling.

The cornerstone of pluralism is an openness to all perspectives, I incorporate this approach into my sessions by considering the clients needs and opinions so that they feel valued and respected at all times. I offer a kind, empathetic, non-judgemental approach to counselling and by really listening to the clients goals I notice real progress.

What can counselling help with?

Counselling is suitable for anyone with emotional or mental struggles, it can help you cope with:

  • A diagnosed mental health issue such as depression or anxiety.
  • An upsetting physical condition such as chronic fatigue or an end-of-life diagnosis.
  • A difficult life event, including bereavement, a relationship breakdown or workplace stress.
  • Neurodiversity related anxiety and struggles.

For some counselling sessions are a safe place to vent their anger and anxious thoughts helping them continue every day with a more positive and balanced attitude.

Sessions can take place either in my office in Consett, or via Zoom.  Why not book an introductory call to see if we are a good fit?

Who is Sophie?

Outside of work I am a Mum to three boys and a wife. I have brightly coloured hair, I love dogs, I enjoy film nights, going to gigs and dislike running!

Mental health struggles have been a part of my life since my early teenage years and I have turned to both hypnotherapy and counselling to guide me through difficult times. In 2019, after a period of effective personal therapy, I made the decision to train as a hypnotherapist and counsellor.

I am interested in working in areas that I have personally experienced, these include: grief, anxiety and Neurodiversity.  I am continuing my training by following a path to become an ADHD Clinical Provider.  With two Neurodiverse family members this area of study is incredibly important to me.
