About me

Asking for help can be counterintuitive, seeking therapy may feel unusual. I like to suggest an initial one-off assessment session to enable us to see if we might work well together. If after that you choose to see me for therapy, we will decide together on a program of sessions incorporating regular reviews.

My approach is creative and relational; I have experience working with emotional trauma, abuse, addictions and with individuals who find themselves struggling at transitional points in their lives and who need a safe place in which to reflect, be heard, feel valued and explore. I have worked in the NHS with people who have received various mental health diagnoses and I currently work in the charity sector with CLEAR Emotional Trauma and Therapy Specialists.

My training is integrative which means that I draw upon a range of therapeutic modalities both humanistic and psychodynamic. I have a particular interest in attachment theory and how early experiences, whether subtle or pronounced, impact relational patterns in later life. In addition, I will work with the here and now between us, bringing awareness to experience and exploring options in dynamics where one might have felt stuck.

I sometimes offer the arts in sessions - especially when words feel too much or not enough; Using creative methods can help illuminate unconscious process. I will always support you in working with images and absolutely no previous experience or artistic skill is needed. Some clients use the arts more than others and some not at all; the individual needs of each client will guide the development of the therapy and inform a flexible response from me.

My aim is to support you on your journey towards an integrated self. By connecting with parts of self that may have been lost or damaged it is possible to find inner resources and the courage to make changes to old patterns. My commitment is to accompany my clients on a journey towards improved stability, self-regulation and a growing capacity for intimacy and agency.
