About me
I am a qualified Integrative Therapist with extensive experience supporting clients dealing with stress, anxiety, abuse, childhood trauma, self-esteem and confidence issues. I have also received specialised training to work with children. I also have experience addressing specific areas of focus such as LGBTQ+ concerns, grief, adoption and foster care, attachment issues, domestic violence, family of origin challenges and multicultural considerations.
My approach is rooted in respect and compassion, and I aim to tailor our sessions to meet your unique needs. Seeking counselling takes courage and I am here to support you on your journey towards a happier, more fulfilling life. I work with children using play therapy and art, in order to help them to express their emotions and challenges in ways that don't rely solely on words.
My therapy room is located in the peaceful countryside setting just outside Middlewich. Alternatively, I offer therapy via Zoom or over the phone. Feel free to phone me to discuss availability or email me if you would like me to contact you to discuss an appointment.
Training, qualifications & experience
I started my counselling journey as a foster carer. As a foster carer I was interested in how the trauma my foster children had experienced, effected their behaviour - often negatively. They would avoid any meaningful attachment. They would push your buttons in an attempt to break down the placement because they felt they did not deserve a loving home. It didn't make sense. So I did an Open University Degree, it was called an Open Degree because I could quite literally look at any aspect that interested me. What was normal behaviour in a child. How did adversity affect behaviour, how was the brain moulded by love, fear etc. I achieved a BSc Degree. Following this, I studied for a counselling qualification. I have a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma In Therapeutic Counselling. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ie. MBACP 396398
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
