About me
“Life isn’t about waiting for the storms to pass; it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”
At Your Umbrella Counselling we have three main objectives:
1. Self-Knowledge
2. Self-Acceptance
3. Self-Growth
As integrative counsellors with person-centred cores, we allow space for our clients to explore and express themselves in the time they need. We are able to draw upon many different types of therapeutic approaches in order to tailor an approach that best suits each of our clients. We work with a broad range of issues including, but not limited to: goal setting, anxiety and fear, depression, change, relationships, abuse, confidence, and self-esteem. There are no time restraints for the therapeutic journey. For some clients, it’s a matter of a few sessions … for others, it’s a matter of years. Some clients will dip in-and-out depending on what’s going on in their lives. This is an individual process. The therapeutic relationship is a special one, no matter how long or how short. Further information
Born in Canada, Shauna attended the University of Victoria where she studied philosophy. She went on to carve out a successful career working in the insurance industry. However, she felt that she had much more to offer than her career was allowing. After immigrating to the United Kingdom in 2015, Shauna took the opportunity to follow her true passion. She obtained her Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice and hasn’t looked back since.
“The most rewarding moments for me are when my clients stand with their heads held high, telling me that they are proud of themselves, and that they are ready to leave counselling. It is such a privilege to share a space with someone, to hear their stories, and to truly see them. We are all just doing the best we can with the tools we have. I can help someone to take that next step, to become a better version of themselves, and that is why I do what I do. It’s just so amazing to watch someone grow and succeed.”
Shauna lives in England with her husband where she runs a successful private practice.
