Shaun Leworthy MBACP, FD (Open) Couns - Integrative Therapist
My name's Shaun and I'm an experienced qualified Integrative Therapist and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP).
I want to hear about you and what things are causing you problems in your life; what is getting in the way, things such as internal struggles with thoughts and difficult feelings/emotions/body sensations or perhaps problems with people and relationships and lets look at how can we work together to address those needs in such a way that you feel involved, heard and understood.
There are no assumptions or judgements you are an individual so let's work together to identify problems and work towards improving your emotional and psychological wellbeing by integrating your thoughts, emotions, how your body feels as well as what you do and how you act to address difficulties in your life.
I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework to make sure you receive the support that meets your needs.
I work in Barnstaple and Bideford working individually with both Adults & Young People aged 11yrs upwards and have many years experience of working with a diverse range of presenting problems, such as:
- domestic abuse
- sexual abuse & trauma
- LGBTQ & sexuality
- self harm
- looked after children & care leavers.
My work involves helping to create a confidential safe, trusting space to foster a therapeutic relationship within which we can work together to address problems in life and work towards making changes that you identify, which will benefit you.
This work can address historic experiences as well as here and now problems helping to work towards a future that can be of difference.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
