About me
Hello, I have been a therapist since completing my Masters degree in counselling in 2002. I offer private and affordable counselling, therapy and treatment for adults, children and families for a range of concerns, including anxiety, stress, depression, grief and loss. I specialise in couple counselling and family therapy.
I offer online, phone and text counselling in the UK and Worldwide.
In our counselling sessions I am focused on you and your experience. We will work together to understand and explore your thoughts, behaviours and feelings and reflect on your life experiences. Working with a counsellor can help you see things in a new perspective and give support through difficult times.
I understand that taking the first step in coming to counselling can be daunting. Asking for support can be stressful and may make you feel vulnerable and self-conscious. However, taking that step may be key to a new beginning.
My approach to therapy is informed by current research. I bring to our sessions several different counselling modalities. I offer both short term and open-ended counselling, (depending on your needs and the issues you want to address), in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment through face to face counselling and coaching at my clinic in Newport, Wales or online counselling and coaching.
Whether you are looking for counselling support or motivational coaching, I offer a conversational approach to working through problems, life issues and goals. I believe everyone is unique and I tailor my approach according to your needs and what works best for you. My hope is that through our meetings, whether face to face or online, we can work together to find a way forward for you to enjoy life more.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 20 years' experience in counselling and psychotherapy, and have worked with adults, couples, children and families in my private practice, with agencies, and in over 50 schools in the UK, Thailand, New Zealand and the Middle East. I am also experienced in providing crisis counselling services and aiding community members and emergency support personnel in tragedy, including victims of the Asian Tsunami and in Kuwait, after the Gulf War,
I have worked with people of all ages and backgrounds and can help you with a variety of concerns. My clients tell me that I am warm, insightful and understanding. I am passionate about supporting personal growth and helping people develop happier and more meaningful lives.
I have a Masters degree in Counselling (First Class Honours), a Diploma in Counselling and a Bachelors degree in Education. The main theoretical backgrounds of my training were psychodynamic and person-centred. Other trainings have been in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neurolinguistic Programming, Solution Focused Therapy, Gestalt Methods and Sand Play Therapy. This allows me to work in a truly integrative way and to provide the best form of therapy for your unique needs. In addition, I am also a certified Cyber Therapist.
Participating in ongoing professional development and clinical supervision allows me to keep up to date and to offer a high-quality service.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
