About me

About Me

I'm a humanistic integrative counsellor and I offer a safe, confidential space for you to talk through whatever brings you to counselling. I believe that you have the full potential to overcome any emotional challenges you may be facing and that together we can untangle the busyness of your thoughts and make sense of everything. With growing self awareness comes the element of choice - which in turn will allow you to choose to make changes and live the life you want.   It may be that you have goals you wish to achieve from the therapy or it may be that you are looking for a space to process past or present experiences.

My Background

I have approximately 9 years working experience as a therapist post qualification. I have worked with a broad range of presenting issues over the years and with clients from the ages of 8 years to 82 years.   I also work as a Fertility Counsellor and have experience of working with individuals and couples who are going through assisted Fertility Treatment and whom may be experiencing a roller coaster journey of emotional challenges as a result of the process. I have around 15 years of experience of working within this field overall

My other specialised area of work is working with young people (from the age of 13 working with a full range of presenting issues. I also offer working creatively as an option including sand tray work and through art therapy methods.

Your first steps getting started?

I know it can be quite daunting to make the first step in accessing counselling support but why not just try and see if I'm the right therapist for you by either phoning me or e-mailing me to set up a free session initial session?

We can talk about what you would like to get out of counselling and if you are happy we will set up a second session.  We can also decide how often you want to have your sessions - for instance weekly or fortnightly.  We can work this out together.

I often hear from my clients that they feel nervous right at the beginning but that by the end of the first session - the nerves have disappeared and they feel motivated and ready to start on their therapy journey.  I'm not a scary counsellor - so that's always a good start!

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
