Individuals & Couples Psychotherapist / Supervisor

About me

Hello, I'm Shannon. I’m a fully qualified and experienced BACP psychotherapist working with both individuals and couples.

Relationships are at the centre of my work. Whether you're struggling within a relationship, healing from a past one, noticing patterns that keep repeating, exploring your identity, or wanting to build a stronger relationship with yourself. I offer a warm, affirming space where we can make sense of what's happening together.

I am passionate about working with relationship diversity and creating a space where people feel understood and not judged. I work with individuals and couples from all backgrounds, identities, religions and neurotypes. I am committed to providing an affirming environment for LGBTQIA+ clients.

Alongside specialising in relationship dynamics, I also support people with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, stress, family dynamics, identity, sexuality and body image. I believe the most important relationship we work on is the one you have with yourself. You are not limited to one area of focus, and our work can shift and change as you do.

How do I work?
I offer both online and in-person sessions for individuals and couples. I care deeply about creating a safe, trusting environment where you can feel heard, explore how you're feeling, and connect with your own inner strength.

I work in an integrative and flexible way, which means I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to suit your unique needs. I recognise that no two people or relationships are the same, and what works for one may not work for another.

Relationships:
Relationships can incredibly rewarding, but they can also be where we experience our deepest hurt, uncertainty and growth.

I work with both individuals and couples, I recognise that relationship difficulties aren't only experienced within a relationship. Together we can explore relationship patterns, attachment, boundaries, communication, trust, conflict, intimacy, separation, dating, or healing from past relationships.

Couples therapy:
There's often an assumption that couples only come to therapy when things are falling apart, but that isn't always the case. Couples therapy can be a supportive space to strengthen your relationship, reconnect, improve communication, navigate conflict, rebuild trust, understand one another more deeply, or simply invest in your relationship before difficulties become bigger. Together, we can explore practical strategies and techniques to use both within and outside of session.

Ethical non-monogamy & polyamory:
I work with people in polyamorous, open and other consensual non-monogamous relationships. Whether you're exploring opening up your relationship, navigating jealousy, communication, boundaries, different needs, relationship agreements, or simply want a therapist who understands relationship structures beyond monogamy, I offer an affirming, non-judgmental space.

Neurodivergent relationships:
I have completed accredited training in supporting neurodivergent relationships, including couples where one or both partners are autistic, ADHD, or otherwise neurodivergent. I work in a neuro-affirming way, recognising that communication, connection and conflict can look different for different people. My training also supports those wanting individual therapy, in exploring relationship challenges linked to neurodiversity.

Confidence, self-worth and setting boundaries:
Many of the people I work with are navigating people-pleasing, low self-worth, anxious attachment, difficulty setting boundaries or fear of rejection. Therapy can help you better understand these patterns, strengthen your confidence, and build healthier relationships with yourself and others.

I also work with...
Although relationships are my main area of interest, I can support you with many other concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief, stress, identity, sexuality, body image, work-related pressures and family dynamics.

Availability & information:
You are welcome to choose whether online or in-person sessions work best for you, or a blend of both. Frequency is flexible: weekly, fortnightly or monthly appointments are available, and I also offer flexible appointment times if you can't commit to the same day each week. I work Monday to Saturday, offering morning and evening appointments during the week, and Saturday mornings.

Some feedback I have received from sessions:

• “'Therapy gave me the chance to freely talk about things that I've never been able to discuss before. Being able to simply say things out loud to someone in a safe space was incredibly insightful and I would recommend Shannon to anyone!”

• “After therapy I am more able to communicate how I feel, and set boundaries with people, which has been really helpful.”

• “Therapy allowed me to look at where I was in my current life, this gave me the drive and confidence I needed to start taking more productive steps, such as applying for new job roles.”

• “Shannon really listened to me, I felt heard, and like my feelings were validated.”

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
