About me

Hello, I'm Shanne, I am an experienced counsellor. I work with children, young people, adults, older people and couples, and have many years of experience.

I offer counselling, hypnotherapy, couple’s counselling and coaching.

We can all experience times in our lives were we feel overwhelmed, anxious, tired or that everything is challenging; we can find these feeling difficult to overcome and at times hard to process or manage alone.

Perhaps you feel stuck or simply want to explore how you can live your best life. Talking with someone really helps and it gives you the opportunity to explore, reflect and get the tools to make changes and/or overcome barriers.

You can expect a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and calm place and space to talk and explore. I understand that every battle with any problem/difficulty/loss or issue is individual and personal to you, and each problem or worry is surrounded with it’s own set of unique set of circumstances and ways of how to deal with those.

Working together.

Most clients are nervous or anxious about talking about themselves or personal problems; but I find that before long they open up, feel more relaxed and manage to talk openly. I show empathy and patience, allowing each client the time and space to explore their own thoughts and feelings.

I am trained as a person centred counsellor, but work in an integrative way and use an array of tools from talking therapy, elements of Gestalt therapy to art therapy and much more. All sessions are catered for your needs.

I practice from my home in Normanton, West Yorkshire. I also offer online or telephone counselling. Please do contact me to discuss how I may be able to help you or your loved ones. We agree together on how many session you would like, this can be as few or many as you like.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
