About me
Hello! I’m Shaloma, a person-centred therapist who has always felt a strong pull towards helping others. While my ideas about a future career changed many times growing up, everything became clear when I discovered therapy and I haven’t looked back since.
Person-centred therapy resonated deeply with me because of the trust it places in each individual. I believe that people have an innate capacity to understand themselves and to grow, given the right space and support. My role? To give you that space and support. Helping you gently step away from outside pressures and expectations, so you can begin to listen to yourself, care for yourself, and make sense of your own experience.
I offer a relaxed and open approach to therapy. I trust you to guide the direction of our sessions, meeting you wherever you are each week. Together, we can explore whatever feels important to you in the moment, allowing the process to unfold naturally over our time together.
You know yourself better than anyone else, I'm just your helping hand.
Training, qualifications & experience
I qualified at the end of 2025, upon my completion of a Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) at the University of Salford. During my years of studying, I undertook a clinical placement at The Offload Project, where I provided long-term therapy to clients. Through this experience I was able to gain valuable experience in building sustained, meaningful therapeutic relationships and supporting individuals through deeper, ongoing personal work.
Before undertaking my PgDip, I completed a pre-PgDip certificate following my undergraduate degree in Philosophy. It was during my dissertation which looked at exploring philosophy as a form of therapy that I discovered my calling to train and practice as a therapist.
My approach is grounded in the core principles of person-centred therapy: empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. I aim to offer a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace.
I hope to return to further study in the future to complete a Master’s degree, after gaining more experience in private practice.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
