About me
Have you reached a point where simply getting on with things isn't working anymore?
Perhaps you're dealing with bereavement, anxiety, burnout, a change in your health or a difficult transition in life. You may be used to being the person who copes, carries on and looks after everyone else, but now you're finding yourself struggling.
Therapy can help you understand what is really going on and find a way forward.
We can work at depth, exploring the experiences and patterns that have shaped you, while developing new ways of understanding yourself and responding to life. The aim is meaningful, lasting change, so that life can begin to feel more manageable, more hopeful and more like your own again.
I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor, continuing my advanced psychotherapy training towards becoming a UKCP-registered psychotherapist. I bring more than 20 years of experience in healthcare as an Occupational Therapist, HCPC registered, and have spent much of my career alongside people and families experiencing serious illness, loss, caring and major life change.
How I can help?
I work with people experiencing:
- Bereavement and complex grief
- Anticipatory loss and the impact of serious illness
- Anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed
- Burnout and emotional exhaustion
- Low mood and loss of motivation
- Health changes and their impact on identity and everyday life
- Difficult life transitions
- Relationship difficulties
- The pressures of caring for others
- The particular challenges that can come with working in health and care
I have a particular interest in working with men, including men who may not have found it easy to talk about how they're feeling, or who have spent much of their lives simply getting on with things.
How do I work?
My approach is relational and psychotherapeutic, and we can work at a deeper level to understand not only what you are experiencing now, but the patterns, relationships and experiences that may have shaped it. The aim is not simply to manage what's difficult in the moment, but to develop a deeper understanding that can support meaningful and lasting change. You don't need to understand everything or have the right words to begin our work.
We might spend time understanding what is happening for you now, but we may also become curious about patterns that have developed over time, your relationships, experiences of loss or change, and the ways you've learned to cope.
My background as an Occupational Therapist also means I'm interested in the whole context of someone's life. Our emotional wellbeing doesn't exist separately from our health, relationships, work, responsibilities and sense of who we are.
There isn't a formula for therapy. What we explore will depend on you, what has brought you here and what you want from our work together.

I work with both men and women, and have particular interest in supporting men through change, loss and difficult periods in their lives. Some may be unsure about therapy or simply have never had the opportunity to talk openly about what is really going on for them.
I also have a particular understanding of people working in healthcare and caring professions, where the responsibility of looking after others can sometimes leave little room to consider your own needs.
My therapy room is private and quiet, with free parking on the edge of Dartmoor (Ivybridge), and I aim to offer an environment where we can work at a pace that feels supportive rather than forced.
