About me

Hi, my names Selina and I am a  person-centred counsellor based in Leicestershire. I  am here to help  you.  I have over 32 years of NHS experience as a health professional working with mental health, learning disabilities and care of older people. This gives me a broad and diverse understanding of mental health difficulties, which I have gained through my counselling and NHS background.

I am a registered accredited  member of the National Counselling Society and a registered BACP member( MBACP). I work within their ethical frameworks. I am fully insured and registered with the ICO and have an enhanced DBS; I can offer you telephone or online sessions , which will be held in a confidential space in the LE9 area—availability currently evenings/weekends.

I am experienced and interested in helping my clients overcome anxiety as I believe that all people any age or neurotype can be impacted by anxiety.

Anxiety can take many forms and its physical symptoms can often feel overwhelming and unmanageable. As a person centred counsellor, my role is to help you get to the root of your anxiety by providing a safe, non- judgemental space where you can voice your feelings and emotions.

This environment allows you to explore and understand your anxiety at your own pace. Helping to free you from unrealistic expectations and unhelpful coping mechanisms. Together, we will work towards your personal growth and development, helping you lead a life free from the constraints of anxiety.

Freeing yourself from these constraints can help you develop healthy coping strategies, and gain a better understanding of the physical manifestations of anxiety, allowing you the tools to respond differently. Start your journey of self understanding and realise your true potential today. Please contact if you have any questions and I will always answer within 48hrs,

I offer Individualised Strategies: Every person is unique, and I tailor my counselling techniques to suit your specific needs, challenges, and strengths.

Non-Judgmental Environment: My counselling sessions are free from judgment, providing you with a safe space to express yourself openly.

Collaborative Partnerships: We work together as a team. Your voice matters, and I'm here to listen, support, and guide you on your personal growth and empowerment journey.

I have recently completed 30 hours of CPD with the University of Derby around neurodivergence. I found this very insightful and learnt a great deal from it; being neurodivergent myself, it was interesting to gain more insight into my own neurodivergence and how this impacts on me on lots of different levels.

We all deserve a place at the table of life, and I hope that society, on the whole, becomes more open to this. I am also a certified ADHD practitioner, so I have lots of experience within this area. If you would like to contact me for more information around my counselling session please contact via phone/email and I will get back to you within 48hrs

The first steps in accessing counselling can feel complicated, but in taking those first steps. You can change your life by having me walk by your side on this personal journey by creating an environment where you feel safe, contained and able to talk freely as a client.

This helps to enhance the therapeutic relationship, and as your counsellor, I will meet you with empathy, unconditional positive regard and honesty . I can offer short-term or long-term counselling, which is done by arranging a mutually convenient time, which will be set aside each week for 50 mins.

Our first FREE intro session will be for 20 minutes and is by telephone, where I encourage you to ask questions and to get a feel if counselling and working with me is the right option for you. "Top tip" prior to the call have a think about what you want to get out of counselling, personal objectives, time frames, write questions down and do not be afraid to ask. No question is a wrong question!

The counselling relationship is collaborative and should involve the client fully. As the client, this allows you to regain control over aspects of your life and relationships that feel difficult or challenging. Life is a journey, and we can and do change course. Recognising that it is okay to change direction or chart your path can be a freeing experience.

"life, at its best, is a flowing, changing process in which nothing is fixed- Carl. R. Rogers

Further information

Life can be challenging and difficult, as your counsellor I would like to walk with you on your journey and by establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. Within a safe secure environment I believe allows you as client to explore and gain understanding. I am a qualified person centred counsellor, which means I will work with my clients in the here and now.

In a non judgemental way, offering empathy and by being transparent  within our therapeutic relationship. I believe that everybody has the capacity for growth and change within their life.

Carl Rogers the founder of person centred counselling puts it well when he describes potatoes in his family cellar still striving to reach their potential by growing thin sprouts towards the distant window. Showing that even when the environment is not optimal  growth can still occur, so if as a client you are met with a counsellor who offers you a safe reflective space.

Showing you empathy, transparency  and a non judgemental attitude imagine the growth and potential that could be achieved. In case nobody ever told you: You are valuable, unique, and have the capacity to change and evolve, let this become your mantra.  Start your journey today and awaken and grow, creating the ideal circumstances for you to live your life.
