About me

Hi, I am a person-centred counsellor based in Leicestershire. I  specialise in offering support to help resolve emotional, psychological and relationship issues. I have over 32 years of NHS experience as a health professional working with mental health, learning disabilities and care of older people. This gives me a broad and diverse understanding of mental health difficulties, which I have gained through my counselling and NHS background. I am a registered member of the National Counselling Society and a registered BACP member( MBACP). I work within their ethical frameworks. I am fully insured and registered with the ICO and have an enhanced DBS; I can offer you telephone or Zoom sessions and face-to-face sessions, which will be held in a confidential space in the LE9 area—availability currently evenings/weekends. Access has a slope and a step to navigate, and no toilet facilities exist.

What You Can Expect from My Counselling Services:

Holistic Support: I understand that neurodivergent individuals have multidimensional experiences, and I take a holistic approach to address your mental, emotional, and practical needs.
Individualised Strategies: Every person is unique, and I tailor my counselling techniques to suit your specific needs, challenges, and strengths.
Non-Judgmental Environment: My counselling sessions are free from judgment, providing you with a safe space to express yourself openly.
Collaborative Partnerships: We work together as a team. Your voice matters, and I'm here to listen, support, and guide you on your personal growth and empowerment journey.

I have recently completed 30 hours of CPD with the University of Derby around neurodivergence. I found this very insightful and learnt a great deal from it; being neurodivergent myself, it was exciting to gain more insight into my neurodivergence. We all deserve a place at the table of life, and I hope that society, on the whole, becomes more open to this.

The first steps in accessing counselling can be complicated, but in taking those first steps. You can change your life by having someone walk by your side on this personal journey by creating an environment where you feel safe, contained and able to talk freely as a client. This helps to enhance the therapeutic relationship, and as your counsellor, I will meet you with empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence. I can offer short-term or long-term counselling, which is done by arranging a mutually convenient time, which will be set aside each week for 50 mins. Our first FREE session will be for 20 minutes, where I encourage you to ask questions and to get a feel if counselling and working with me is the right option for you. The counselling relationship is collaborative and should involve the client fully. As the client, this allows you to regain your autonomy and live a journey, and we can and do change course. Recognising that it is okay to change direction or chart your path can be a freeing experience.

Further information

Life can be challenging and difficult, as your counsellor I would like to walk with you on your journey and by establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. Within a safe secure environment I believe allows you as client to explore and gain understanding. I am a qualified person centred counsellor, which means I will work with my clients in the here and now. In a non judgemental way, offering empathy and by being congruent within our therapeutic relationship. I believe that everybody has the capacity for growth and change within their life. Carl Rogers the founder of person centred counselling puts it well when he describes potatoes in his family cellar still striving to reach their potential by growing thin sprouts towards the distant window. Showing that even when the environment is not optimal  growth can still occur, so if as a client you are met with a counsellor who offers you a safe reflective space. Showing you empathy, congruence and a non judgemental attitude imagine the growth and potential that could be achieved. In case nobody ever told you: You are valuable, unique, and have the capacity to change and evolve, let this become your mantra.  Start your journey today and awaken and grow, creating your ideal circumstances for you to live your life.
