About me

Welcome to my counselling profile. Here’s a bit about who I am and how I work

I currently work as a child counsellor in two schools and also see adult clients through my private practice.

My path to becoming a counsellor grew out of a 20-year career in education, where I worked as both a teacher and a leader. During that time, I was always drawn to the pastoral side of school life, being there for young people and their families through the ups and downs that come with school and home life. I’ve also worked as a mental health coordinator and as an education practitioner with children who were chronically disengaged from education, which gave me a deeper understanding of the challenges many young people face.

Alongside my work with children and young people, I also work with adults of all ages who may be facing challenges such as bereavement, anxiety, low mood, identity, work-related stress, or family difficulties.

How I might help you

You may be finding it hard to move forward after the loss of someone you love. Grief can bring so many different and often conflicting emotions, and it can feel overwhelming at times. Together, we can explore those feelings and gently begin to find a way through.

You might be experiencing stress or anxiety that makes everyday life feel like a struggle. In our work together, we can look at what might be contributing to those feelings and find ways to help you manage and ease your anxiety, so life feels a little more balanced and manageable.

Perhaps you are questioning your sense of identity, feeling unsure of who you are, or struggling with changes in your life. We can work together to explore these feelings and help you reconnect with yourself, your values, and what matters to you.

You may be facing challenges in your relationships or family life, whether that’s difficulty communicating, coping with conflict, or adjusting to changes. Together, we can explore these dynamics and find ways for you to navigate them more confidently and calmly.

Sometimes life can leave us feeling stuck, low in confidence, or unsure of which direction to take. I can help you reflect on these feelings, discover your strengths, and begin to find ways to move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and registered member of the BACP

As an integrative counsellor, I don’t believe that one single approach to therapy works for everyone. We’re all unique, and what each of us needs can be very different depending on where we are in life and what we’re struggling with.

Being integrative means I draw on a range of counselling approaches and theories, rather than sticking rigidly to just one way of working. This allows me to tailor the therapy to you - your personality, your pace, and your goals.

At the heart of my work is a humanistic and person-centred foundation, which means I see you as the expert in your own life. I’m here to offer warmth, empathy, and a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

When working with younger clients, I use play and art-based therapy. Using creative activities such as drawing, painting, or imaginative play can help children express feelings and experiences that they may find difficult to put into words.

In summary, an integrative approach gives us the flexibility to find what works best for you. It’s about working together in a way that feels natural, supportive, and meaningful.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have before committing to sessions.
