About me

My name is Sauda (she/her) and I specialise in supporting people who are going through or have been through difficult times. Having gone through several difficult experiences myself, I can understand how hard it can be to make sense of life again. You may feel sad, scared, angry or perhaps it’s hard to feel anything at all, leaving you not knowing who you are anymore.

I believe that I can help you work through many of the experiences you have been through, and help you to find your way back to you - to find joy and meaning in life again.

It is important to note that anyone, of any age, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or ethnicity can experience or be affected by any of the abusive behaviours listed below. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and in diverse relationships, providing a safe, non-judgemental and empathic space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings around many of your experiences.

Some examples of the kinds of trauma experienced I can help with are:

  • Emotional – threatening, humiliating, or insulting behaviour.
  • Psychological – behaviour that is manipulative, controlling or intimidating.
  • Physical – deliberately hurting or injuring someone, this could include hitting, smacking, shaking, spitting, pinching, misusing medication, inappropriate restraints used.
  • Sexual – sexual violence or assault experienced historically or recently.
  • Neglectful – inadequate basic care provided for anyone vulnerable, such as food, clothing, healthcare, shelter, education, and supervision.
  • Financial – controlling the ability to acquire, use or maintain financial resources, examples include taking pension payments or controlling shared assets.
  • Domestic – Any/all of the above experienced in the family home, this can be between partners, parent/step-parent and child.
  • Intimate Partner/Dating – Any/all of the above experienced between couples.

How I work

I work face to face, online and on the phone.

I understand that the idea of therapy can sometimes feel daunting, but it can also facilitate wonderful growth and change. I use a range of therapeutic approaches in an adaptive manner to best suit your needs and preferences. This means our work together will centre around you as a unique individual, with your own unique experiences and way of looking at the world.

I offer 1-hour sessions on a weekly basis, working with young people and adults. Please do call or text to arrange a free 30-minute initial consultation where we can discuss your goals for counselling and to see if we could develop a compatible therapeutic relationship.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have gained valuable experience as a result of volunteering and working as a counsellor in a number of settings: Trust House Sexual Abuse Support Centre and Mindspace Foundation. This experience has helped me to support a diverse range of people with a variety of difficulties such as depression, anxiety, sexual assault and violence, gender identity, sexuality and bereavement.

I have undertaken professional development on a range of topics, including:

  • Trauma informed therapy.
  • Understanding how trauma affects our body and mind.
  • Learned helplessness as a result of repetitive trauma.
  • Personality styles/disorders that can develop from trauma.
  • Self harm and young people as a way to cope with trauma.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
