About me

I am an experienced integrative therapist offering counselling to adults and young people, either face-to-face in Tenterden, Kent, or via Zoom. I work with clients on a wide range of issues, supporting them to move forward in a more positive and confident way.

I have experience working with all ages and a special interest in working with young adults and teenagers. I work using an integration of different therapeutic approaches which includes Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural and Systemic therapy.

The safe development of a caring relationship is fundamental to change, and I understand how important it is for my clients across all age groups to feel they are working with a competent therapist.  I work with clients in a non-judgemental way and aim to create a supportive, trusting and cooperative relationship.

I combine a professional and calm approach with gentle pragmatism and an understanding that clients want change. We will focus on what that change is, and work together on figuring out how you get there.

If you are feeling stressed, low, depressed or anxious, if you are struggling with relationship difficulties or self-esteem issues, perhaps you have lost a loved one or you are the parent/carer of a young person who is distressed, finding the right counsellor for you, can make all the difference. Deciding on who that will be can feel overwhelming and that’s why I offer a 20 minute phone call, free of charge, so you can tell me something about the difficulties you are facing and more importantly, so you get a feel for the way I work.

I offer both short and long-term work with a wide range of issues, some of the most common include:

  •  Anger Management
  •  Anxiety
  • Abuse
  • Bereavement and loss
  • PTSD
  • Depression
  • Work Stress
  • Study Stress
  • Trauma (Recent and/or Historic)
  • Relationship Issues
  • Family Difficulties
  • Sexuality Issues
  • Confidence/Self-Esteem
  • Panic
  • Bullying
  • Emotional based school refusal

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed my counselling diploma at Inter Psyche, a BACP accredited training provider and then went on to study for a Diploma in Adolescent and Schools Counselling at The Metanoia Institute in London. Since completing my qualifications I have attended a variety of training days and workshops, this includes managing anxiety & depression; safeguarding in schools; self-harm and suicide; working with neurodiveristy in the counselling room, inclusion & diversity and bereavement therapy.

I have worked as a therapist in a number of settings, this includes working with adults at the mental health charity MIND.  I have also worked in several secondary schools in Kent as a school counsellor. More recently I worked for the mental health charity Place2Be as a school project manager where I worked closely with the school senior leadership team, parents and students on a wide range of issues including emotional based school avoidance, bullying, academic stress, neurodiversity and identity issues. I have experience of the referral system to CAMHS and have an enhanced DBS certificate which can be shown on request.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
