About me

How We Can Work Together

There is no 'typical' client and no two people will experience life's events in exactly the same way. You may never have considered yourself the type to have counselling, none of this matters, the important thing is that you recognise you need some support now.

I am qualified as an Integrative Talking Therapist and can support you in face to face sessions, online or by phone. Please feel free to contact me for a brief chat if you are undecided about counselling and would like a little more information, as I understand choosing a Therapist can be daunting. You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from having someone to talk things through with and I offer short or long term help. You will come with your own unique concerns and once we have met, if you decide that you feel comfortable we can embark on the most supportive counselling style for you whatever the nature of your enquiry.

Developing a positive & open relationship is really important, especially if we are going to be talking about issues that bring up complicated emotions for you, so getting this 'right fit' is a priority. Therapy is tailored to suit you and I will always conduct an Assessment first. During this session I will gather relevant information, but more importantly it gives you the opportunity to see whether you feel comfortable, as I aim to make the whole process as stress free as possible

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Hypnotherapist and a Certified Psychosexual Counsellor. This means I not only look at what's going on in your life now, but we can explore the past experiences that might have shaped your personality and the decisions you make whether that's as an individual or within a relationship.

I am insured with enhanced DBS clearance to work with children, and as a qualified Paediatric Hypnotherapist I am able to use relaxation techniques to help young ones feel comfortable.

In addition to my broad training and experience of supporting clients through addictions, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, body confidence, sexuality issues, grief and loss, I have a particular interest in the effects of paediatric pain and specialist training in Couples therapy including the Psychosexual impact.

I am registered with BACP , the National Counselling Society and The International Society of Paediatric Hypnotherapists  ensuring the highest standards of ethical practice and confidentiality.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
