About me

The counselling I provide offers you the time and space that so many of us need in our lives but often lack, especially when life becomes hard or you feel less able to cope as you once did.

You may be struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, low self-esteem, a relationship breakdown, bereavement, or perhaps there is no label that can best describe where you are at right now. Whatever the case and wherever you are at, I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment for you to begin counselling wherever you find yourself currently. I work from a comfortable counselling room situated in the City Centre of York.

I have several years of experience working with clients within a short time frame (6-12 sessions), but I also am happy providing sessions on a more long term basis.

I am trained in the Humanistic perspective of counselling and psychotherapy and have nearly 9 years’ experience in the counselling field. I work primarily from a Person-centred approach, whilst integrating other therapies such as CBT and theories that suggest our past experiences have an impact on our lives now. I also feel comfortable working with issues of faith and spirituality. With me you can begin to tell your story at your own pace, we can explore what it is that has brought you to counselling and together we can establish some aims for you to work towards, to help you move forward and see the change in your life that you are hoping for.

I appreciate that reaching out to seek help and talk about how you feel can be a really big step for some.  If this is you and you have some initial reservations or questions please feel free to contact me; it is important that you find a counsellor you feel comfortable with.

Fees

- An initial assessment session face to face is £25 and lasts for 1 hour.  This session helps both you and I to establish whether I am the best person to support you in counselling at this time in your life.

- Thereafter all sessions last for 1 hour and are £35.  There is no advanced commitment you have to make for any number of sessions.  I do initiate a review every 6 sessions so we can both see any progress that has been made, and whether or not any further sessions would be helpful.

- I do offer a concessions rate; please feel free to contact me for more details on this.
