About me

Does life seem difficult to cope with sometimes?  Counselling can help you work through these difficult times and contact with me is your very first step.  I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgemental counselling service where you will be given time and space to reflect and discuss what is going on for you.  Take the first step to make the changes that you want.......

I have experience working with individuals struggling with many different issues including:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • bereavement
  • self esteem
  • domestic violence
  • anger
  • relationships.

I offer counselling to adults and young people. Counselling is about making a positive choice to help yourself and consider your life choices. Counselling can be a powerful and effective way to enable you to make changes to your life.

Feedback from a former client:
'Thank you so much for being there for me. At a time when it seemed that nobody was there to listen, you were there to support me through this'

Sometimes it can be hard to talk to family and friends; counselling enables you to talk through situations that you may not be able to share with the people closest to you.

I am a fully qualified counsellor, offering an integrative approach which means I draw on a number of counselling approaches, depending on what is appropriate for you.

My practice room overlooks the garden and y clients say feels very calming. There is ample free parking.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am qualified (Foundation Degree in Arts Counselling at Teesside University-distinction) and  completed a BA (Hons) Degree in Therapeutic Counselling.

I am an individual member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I work within the guidelines of the BACP Code of Ethics.  I have successfully completed the BACP Certificate of Proficiency.

I have worked as a counsellor in an agency that specialises in supporting bereaved clients, therefore, I understand how difficult it can be to share personal aspects of life especially at a time of bereavement.

Currently working in private practice and for a charity offering therapeutic support to children, young people and their families.

Other training:
Award in Counselling Skills and Theory
Award in Helping Skills
Bereavement Counselling Training
Trauma and You Training
Hearing Voices Training
Domestic Violence Awareness

I hold a clear CRB/Disclosure and Barring Service check.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
